Welcome to Blackhawk Academy, where we offer a variety of educational programming to empower our students with the skills, knowledge, and motivation to succeed! The SUCCESS, Connections and Transition programs each utilize a student-centered and strengths-based approach intended for students whose needs are better met within a non-traditional learning environment. I am both honored and excited to serve as principal of Blackhawk Academy.

My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped through my many educational experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom. I earned a bachelor's degree in special education from Benedictine University and a master's degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University. I enjoyed the amazing privilege of teaching high school special education students in the communities of North Aurora, Cicero, and DeKalb. Then, I served as a special education administrator before joining the West Aurora 129 School District in 2020 as principal of Blackhawk Academy.

Outside of work, I love being with my two children and our dog! We like to play games, watch tv shows and movies, bake, read books, and travel any chance we get. I also enjoy giving back to the Golden Apple Foundation’s Scholar Program.
